Born in Montréal and raised in Hudson Québec, Robert began his remarkable journey at the age of 14, when he started playing professionally in dance halls and bars with a local big band and a high school rock band. In the decades that followed, Robert wrote songs for and performed with many ensembles, from New Wave to 50’s Retro to New Country, to Blues, Jazz, Folk and almost everything in between. He became an in-demand session guitarist, arranger, musical director and studio producer, and first call for symphony work, pit orchestras and other “A-list” gigs. He has also co-written four award-winning musicals, two of which were written with Andrea Menard, a Métis singer-songwriter-actor with whom Robert has collaborated closely over many years.

Robert has played on some very big stages (lots of little ones too), with artists like The Pointer Sisters, Stewart Copeland (of the Police), Tom Cochrane, Renée Fleming and Ian Hunter (of Mott the Hoople), to name just a few. He has also produced albums for many Canadian artists, including Andrea Menard, Leela Gilday, Pierre Sabourin Luke Jansen and Renelle Ray. But In recent years, Robert has stepped back out to centre stage to take a more active role as an artist, creating new music and bringing his extensive catalogue to new audiences.

Robert Walsh is a quintessentially Canadian artist. He grew up in the Montréal area, lived in Toronto for 10 years, and settled in Edmonton 3 decades ago. He has made music all over Canada (and beyond) and writes and performs in English and French. He is also passionate about giving back to the next generation of Canadian musicians, having pioneered an after-school music program in Alberta’s French school system, and taught songwriting and the business of music at MacEwan University’s Music Department. He also authored books on theory and songwriting, and continues to offer workshops, consult, and mentor young artists.

Current projects include the internet adaptation of his first musical “Catalogue de société”, putting finishing touches on albums in both English and French, releasing a debut album of his bilingual duo “Bub & Pit” (with longtime friend and collaborator Pierre Sabourin), and writing music commissioned for the 100^th anniversary of the “Association francophone de l’Alberta”.

Robert a joué sur de grandes scènes (et même sur de nombreuses petites scènes), avec des artistes comme The Pointer Sisters, Stewart Copeland (de Police), Tom Cochrane, Renée Fleming et Ian Hunter (de Mott the Hoople), pour n'en citer que quelques-uns. Il a également produitr des albums pour de nombreux artistes canadiens, dont Andrea Menard, Leela Gilday, Pierre Sabourin, Luke Jansen et Renelle Ray.
