mentorship for musicians and non-musicians

MUSIC MENTORSHIP

I love sharing what I know, and have a long history of teaching music. I have:

Taught Songwriting, The Business of Music, Theory and Ear Training and Ensembles for over thirteen years in MacEwan University’s Music department, and offered courses at Concordia University and MacEwan Conservatory of Music. I also pioneered an after-school music program for French high schools, teaching students about music by writing and performing their own songs. The program has since expanded throughout Alberta.

I have conducted workshops in English and French across Canada for many different schools and organizations, including Music Alberta, Songrise, Le Réseau des Galas de la chanson, Alberta College, Le centre de développement musical, and the Yukon Summer Music Camp.

I Authored “Sculpting Air – A Whole Person Approach to Songwriting”,  and “Bob’s Book of Music Theory" (La théorie musicale selon Bob”).

IFrom the Stage to the Boardroom: Mastery in Execution

Most people believe creativity is a lightning strike—unpredictable and rare. But as a lifelong musician, producer, and former manager in Toronto’s complex hospital system, I’ve learned that whether you are composing music or streamlining healthcare operations, the mechanics of success are the same. Great ideas don't fail for lack of inspiration; they fail in the Messy Middle, the high-friction zone where vision meets reality.

I help entrepreneurs and non-musicians bridge the gap from "no idea" to "completed reality" by applying the Musician Mindset to any professional challenge.

Three Pillars I Offer:

The Musician Mindset: Mastering the Art of Execution. Ideas often die in the "Messy Middle." I provide a repeatable system of Planning, Preparation, and Performance—the same framework I used to navigate high-stakes healthcare environments—to help you move projects from abstract concepts to measurable results.

Reliable Creativity and The Art of the Finish. "Done" shouldn't be a moving target. I teach you how to navigate the internal back-and-forth and access your "Knowing Centre"—the internal compass that defines when a work is authentic, grounded, and ready for the world.

The Art of Show and Tell: A Masterclass in Stagecraft. Information alone doesn't move people; experience does. I pull back the curtain on how to "Sculpt the Air" using rhythm and harness intention, turning your professional presence into a headlining performance.

Stop managing the chaos. Start composing your legacy. ---

TESTIMONIALS

What People Are Saying

I just want to say, thank you sooooooo much for all your hard work in putting this wonderful class together. I learned oh so much, and I feel as though my song writing has really improved. I can now songwrite alot easier, with more insight, as opposed to how I feel I wrote before your class!!! I Seriously, LOVED your class!!! I just can't say enough good things about this course and how you taught it!!!

K.S

There are educators who treat their job like a job and there are those who take the extra time to significantly impact their students. I cannot thank you enough for answering all my questions (both smart and dumb ones), and going above and beyond expectations in a classroom. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

S.H

I really appreciated the depth in feedback I received over the course of the school year.  You gave me a lot to think about and added a lot of ideas that I really liked... I'll be referencing your rubrics for some time I imagine.
